In tec group 11A we have been making an emergency light! It was really fun to make and I have learnt lots of helpful tips and skills along the way. Before we made our emergency light we had to make our final key attributes.After we had accomplished this we make our project and then when went back onto our google drawing (key Attributes) and wrote how we made our key attributes come into our project and why we did that. I mostly enjoyed soldering the wires onto the copper tape and my most challenging thing was attaching the resistors onto the copper tape. Hope you like it :)

I am going to design and make an emergency light for my own survival kit. I will be able to have it in my bedroom ready for when the power goes out. Here is a survival kit!

Country study 🤠

For Literacy our class has been working on a country study.  I studied the country England!
The reason why I chose England is because, I was born in england but raised in new zealand,  I always new lots about england and It's background. I found out most of my Info from books and the internet but some from my prior knowledge. Hope you like it!

The stone in the road

In class the shoes reading group has been learning about morals, we read a book called "The stone in the road,". We read in our heads as a group and at each paragraphs we would infer and predict what would happen next. The main point in the story is a king places a stone in the road and hides it behind a hedge, in the middle of the road. A farmer and a soldier walked past and left the stone while other didn't take any notice at all. At last a girl comes along and picks up the stone and there's a reward. I think the moral of the story is " If you are kind and considerate there is always a reward, even if it is just feeling good about your self,".  Here is the story:

In class rm 11 have been learning how to write a persuasive piece of writing in this persuasive piece I am trying to persuade Mr Billings to handout redskins for amazing writing here is my writing. Hope you like it !

Why room 11 needs redskins?

Would we work better?

Yes,

We would never fall asleep again.We would have redskins to survive, without them we would die! It’s an endless situation. It’s a battle, a struggle, There’s a purpose to this elegant, preshious stirp of amazingness, it’s like water. A sugar rush is what children need to work, without it we would get a disease called redskin apocalypse. That deathful disease is deadly, do you want a teacher to be blamed for this cause of an action?

Best teacher appreciation.

Would Mr Billings become the best teacher ever ?

Definitely,

Any teacher who gives out redskins will be so much more cooler,appreciated,exciting and hilarious teacher in the whole university it’s a win win situation. Kids would come sprinting up to you and be your slave only for your signature.The word would spread across the whole world, Mr Simon Cowell will even come to NZ especially for your autograph, even a selfie.

Would Mrs Billings be able to bribe us into doing the best writing,reading,maths etc, for a redskin?

Yes,

Rm 11 would do anything to survive we would:

• Put in a good word for him to the principal to make sure he gathers more money.
• Make sure his kids get into an amazing uni.
• Book him a holiday in hawaii.
• Make him have hair whenever he wants.
• Be his slave, get food for the family, for the pets,elderly's anything for that one REDSKIN!!

Mandarin lesson

In class we have been learning Mandarin we have learnt how to say and write our names so here is mine-




Also we have been Learning about the Chinese new year so each year they have a animal that they eat and celebrate This year the animal is A rooster!
We learnt which animal we were I am a dog because I was born in 2006 and if you were born in 2005 you are a Rooster!   -Thankyou

Outdoor learning space

Room 11 outdoor learning space is getting innovated thanks to the board of trustees :)
The purpose of renovating rm 11's useless area is because it is a waste of space to be able to innovate rm 11's space we created and persuasive piece of of writing. After we had accomplished that we had to create a design of what we would want it to look like In this task Emmy and I decided to create a 3D model of what it would look like here it is .

Dear board of trustees,

I would like to tell you why Rm11 needs an outside learning space?

Reason 1- Waste of space.

Why is it a waste of space?

It’s only a walkway where people litter, it’s a waste of space.

Imagine, imagine if we had a learning space where we can work better, enjoy the sun while we learn and work. It’s better than being stuck in rm11 with 27 kids all smushed into 1 classroom. In this useless, boring, colourless area we have dead trees, useless drains in the middle of the space. It’s unsafe!

Reason 2- UNSAFE

Why is rm11’s useless area unsafe?  

It’s unsafe because there are broken bits of concrete , 1 useless drain in the dead center and no roof.

It has spikey plants growing through the cracked tiles while rm 11 students hurt themselves over the prickly balls falling from the trees.

Conclusion

Room 11’s dull outdoor area is really colourless and has no space to learn. It would be a better place to learn if it was colorful and fun which will encourage us to learn better and if we were sad or angry you can look at/on the bright colourful side of things.

Dillon's inference Chart.

In class Shoes writing group have been reading a book called Sparks. After Shoes group had finished reading this book we had to create an Inference chart about a boy named Dillon. Dillon was a boy that just had his birthday and for his b-day he got a New scooter with sparks flying out of it. He loved this scooter so much, he would not let anyone touch it especially his older brother Harley. In this inference chart I had to say in detail about his character, quotes, feelings and actions. Furnware trip !

Rooms 10,11& 12 all went to Hastings for a visit to furnware the purpose of this trip was because this term our main focus is on innovation so when we went down to visit we were shown how innovation has helped furnware over the past. Innovation helped Furnware because quite a while ago furnware's only seller/customer was the government and the government said bye your own school furniture so 1 customer turned into 1200 customers so furnware had to hire more staff .
Of course furnware didn't know who the 1200 people were so they met up for BBQ's, drinks and more To get to know them better but there was one problem it was China. China has a population of 1,371 billion people and New Zealand has the population of 4,596 million people so China sold everything cheaper then Nz's furnware company. Furnware sold the same chairs that was in China, Furnware sold their chair's for $30 and China's chairs for $25. Furnwares customers spoke to Furnware and said " Not trying to be rude but China's chairs are $5 cheaper then your chairs, so i'm gonna start buying my chairs from there,". Furnware was going to go out of business so the only choice they had was to INNOVATE! By helping them innovate they had to go back to school and see the students point of view so they did . Furnware came up with an idea of creating a chair being useful for all positions children like to learn in : leaning back, forward, upright etc. They created a chair thats comfy and to be able to be used in all of the positions. They did and now furnware have Lots and lots of customers buying chairs, tables, desks for school and at home.

In room 11 we have started music lessons with Mrs McHattie as being part of the music class you get your own music book with that music book there is a blank cover page and of course we had to design it after we had accomplished that we had a choice to gather more gold points by creating a side/drawing. I decided  to create my presentation on Ginny Blackmore !

Millie's Persuasive Writing

In room 11 we have been setting goals to achieve in our writing, to help, learn more about punctuation. We had to choose what subject we would like to persuade in our writing and plan about it  I choose Should students who commit cyber-bullying be suspended from school?

Should students who commit cyber-bullying be suspended from school?

Students that cyber-bully should be suspended, here are my reasons why: You can cause depression, Anger, Sadness, make them doubt themselves and if you are just labeling, saying mean and nasty things it come to serious things like suicide.

Just think, if you wouldn’t say those unkind, nasty things in person why would you say it online. Suspend the bully, tell them “It is wrong,”. Is it because you think your in your room all alone behind a screen, thinking it is funny to cyber bully. What you put online like being unkind, disrespectful and swearing, you are  preparing yourself for the person, the teacher ending up seeing this unnecessary and norty comments you put online ; it’s not right.  

Make a choice, would you let them stay at school to bully other students online?

“No,”.

Tell them to take time off school for a couple of days at least, let the parents talk some sense into their kid, tell them “ You're being inconsiderate and cold hearted to others ; Maybe they'll stop !

The first time I saw ..... WILD !

In class we have been learning about show not tell and we had to think of a person, animal or a object that we could write about mine is my goats, Rodney & Dell-boy.

First time I saw ……. WILD

I was so accelerated with excitement I couldn't stop jumping up and down like a maniac!

I start to squeak and squeal as I start spotting the Manic Animals bumping and fighting each other.    

Rodney and Dell-boy would not stand upright as soon as my grandads trailer unexpectedly opened the old, ranky door on the base side these Jumpy lunatics quickly leaped out to sprint up the sloped hill to play fight in a 2 person war! .

As They start to calm down at a turtle pace I extend my arm and began patting Rodney’s pearl, creamy skin with luscious, soft, beautiful fur as soon as I stand up I lean to the side and their Dell-boy was pushing for a pat there I was patting his smooth, soft, cuddly fur before I know It’s 7 o'clock. “Dinner time,” mum says .

Wow I’ve been up on this hill patting the pets for 3 hours, see you next time, Then I scream now you can play fight with each other! - By Millie

ANZAC

In class we have been learning about ANZAC day and doing ANZAC homework Emersyn & I
 ( Millie) have made a presentation to show our working and Learning. Hope you enjoy !!!

- House designs

In class we have been making house designs because we have learnt lots more about measurement like finding the area of circles, triangles and composite shapes so we had to work out different measurements for different parts in the house and the hard bit for me was working out the area of the whole house, we also had to show our working out.   

Sculptures

Sculptures

In class we have had an art exhibition where we display our art, part of the art work that room 11 produced were sculptures with our creativity we had to have our sculptures based on a emotion my sculpture is about sadness. How did we make it?   Our teacher ( Mr Billings) went to uncle bills and bought loads of clay then he gave us some ideas to help us be able to make our own sculpture. Then we wet the clay otherwise the clay would be too hard to make detail. Then we started to mold and start to develop our sculptures when it was done we left it them dry for a couple of days then we either got rough sand paper or thin sand paper and started to smooth out any hard creases . 

Character traits

In class we have been learning about character traits and descriptions we had to write about a character trait and make a story based on that character trait I choose happiness, angry and embarrassed here is my writing-

Anger!!!Yes, yes,yes,no !I lost the bid, I get no money my friends and I are so mad. I storm down the dirty, rustic road crashing and & smashing trash cans and kicking broken gravel what am I going to do ? Ah I throw everything out of my way towards the phone, my fingers are switching from button to button not knowing where I have pressed calling now !!! to be continued ……….

Drum roll please it's time . Numbers 3,14,8,4,2,1,18 & 23, Ahh omg we won 60 million dollars , we are jumping with joy, clapping,dancing, laughing, looking like we have just ran a marathon due to the fact we have danced too hard we are sweating like we have just been drenched in a pool. We are so hyped up we could just run for miles. We graciously calm down from time to time and start releasing what we have won.

Embarrassed !!     I walk into The plaza mall, suddenly I hear a tingly buzzing noise coming from my phone I quickly look at my phone It says In big bold writing, one million dollars to be won, to win you have to commit to a dare. “ yeah I scream,”. Within 5 mins I was on the phone to the manager saying what dare do I do, Any dare please. Alright If you say so, You have to stay in the plaza mall and steel the sparkliest dress their is, don’t worry there's no cameras. Ok I Sneakily cover myself in toilet paper looking like the stupidest person in the whole wide world I grab the silver metallic sparkliest dress and sprint to the door I hear this thumping sound behind me and carmes staring me down “ He said their was no cameras,” I scream. Da it’s a mall what do you expect says a customer. I feel so embarrassed as the security guard jumps and rips the dress off of me Literally everyone in the whole malls faces were shocked with surprise I can't wait to yell at that manages face Ah………...

    -This week we have been learning how to make a Mihi in our Te reo lessons. A Mihi is telling where you come from, your whanau so basically all about you, so here is mine.
